I love the New Year.

I always have.

It's the promise.  The blank slate.  The empty journal.  The empty calendar.

I'm a resolution type of girl.  My husband is not.  I've gotten used to that :)

I've been thinking for the past several weeks about what I wanted to do this New Year.

One of those things is currently in the works.  Hopefully, I'll be able to share that on Monday.

Here are some other resolutions that I have for this new year.

Starting today I'm reading through the Bible using this program I found a couple of years ago.  The pace is a little strenuous (and to be honest, I didn't finish in the 90 days last time) but the feeling of finishing the whole Bible is awesome.

Denny and I are also starting Alivea on an allowance this year.  We want her to become more responsible with money and to have money of her own.  She'll have to complete chores to earn her allowance.  (This should be interesting!)

I'm working on building a list of books I want to read this year.  I'll be sharing that in a blog post pretty soon.

I'm adopting Brave as my word of the year.  I've chosen words before and never really stepped into them or explored what they really mean for me.  Brave is different.  It's something I've already tackled in this space and it's something I feel I am being called on daily.  I'm taking some steps to practice being brave.  And hopefully I'll be able to share more about them soon.

(Btw, if Brave is your word (or even if not) please check out this print that my friend Lauren Mills from Mercy Ink has in her print shop.  Lauren's work is amazing and I love this print.)

I'm also doing the obligatory cut out all caffeine and sugar from my diet.  (Sike!  I can't cut out all caffeine. Who am I kidding?  But I am going to try and be better about how much of those things make it into my body {as she sips her coke}  Lord help!)

That's about it for my New Year's Resolutions.  Nothing huge and earth shattering happening over here.

What about you?  Any changes on the horizon?  Do you have a word for this year?  If so, please share.

  1. Yes, 2014 feels great already. I hope your's is off to a great start too!
